Atelier Delphine Travel Clothes for Women

Yuka Izutsu started Atelier Delphine in Los Angeles in 2011, drawing on Japanese craft and sensibility to cut clothes with attention to natural fiber, proportion, and the way fabric moves on the body. Travel shapes the approach, and the clothes are made to pack small and wear well across the years rather than for a single trip. KIWI sources Atelier Delphine for that durability and for a quiet Japanese-inspired cut that suits a working wardrobe as readily as a suitcase.

Both the balloon sleeve sweater and the haori coat are among Atelier Delphine’s best sellers. The sweater is knit in Peru from alpaca, with an open crew neck and a roomy sleeve gathered into a ribbed cuff, cut slightly cropped and relaxed to end at the high hip, where it stays neat over a high-waisted skirt or wide trousers. Alpaca gives a women's sweater more warmth at less weight than sheep's wool, so the volume in the sleeve never feels bulky.

Atelier Delphine's crinkled Japanese satin is 100% recycled polyester and made in the USA. Its textured surface disguises creases, so satin dresses and skirts come out of a suitcase looking the way they went in, which is what matters most in travel clothes for women. The fabric drapes into fluid, asymmetrical shapes and holds them through a full day of wear. Paired with the label's alpaca knits, it makes a travel wardrobe that packs into one bag and still looks put together at dinner.
